Instructions

  1. After slicing up the sirloin, soak it in a ½ cup water + ¼ tsp baking soda solution for 15 minutes (significantly tenderizes tough/lean cuts of meat). THOROUGHLY rinse afterward in a mesh sieve or colander. If there is still time while doing the other steps of this recipe, sprinkle raw, patted dry beef strips with a ½ tsp salt and let sit until ready to add to the pan.

  2. Heat a large pot over medium heat. Spray with 1 spritz coconut oil spray (AP) or add 1-2 tbsp chicken broth (SP)

  3. Add the onions to the pot and sauté for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. Part of the key to browning/caramelizing onions without oil is to only add them to a hot pan, then let them sit on the hot pan until they are browning without touching, then stir and periodically add only a tbsp or 2 of broth or water at a time to prevent burning and to deglaze. The onions brown at a higher temperature than water boils, so if the pan is constantly in too much moisture, then onions will have hard time getting to browning point. Only add enough periodically to prevent burning.

  4. Add the thinly sliced sirloin to the pan and season with the thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Continue sautéing for 5-7 minutes, until cooked through.

  5. Deglaze the pan the with the balsamic vinegar, then stir in the beef broth, Braggs aminos, and water.

  6. Add the bay leaf and bring to a boil.

  7. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.

  8. Remove the bay leaf before serving.

I’m so glad to hear that. I am really blown away by all of the comments you ladies are making. Since I came from the P3 recipes creation shooting to this, I felt like I could totally taste the difference of no fat and limited ingredients, but I do remember that when you’re on P2, your taste buds get kind of cleaned out and when you’re hungry more things taste better than usual lol! So I’m glad your taste buds are telling you it’s good. :)-

    Hi,
Can you tell me about the Beef Broth, it seems i have trouble finding it without dextrose or (sp) malodextrin added, Or is it too minimal to worry about?
I would love to use more Beef Broth but i’m too scared to.

    Thanks
    Love your site

Hey Liz! Good que. To be honest I don’t know what kind of effect those ingredients in those amounts could have to be sure – for instance I did use my kal stevia brand on Hcg which also contains a small amount of dextrose. That said many of the organic brands if you can afford it I have found do not contain any of those additives. I think in general it’s best to avoid as many of the possible problems as possible.
