Perfect Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs Recipe – Make perfect hard boiled eggs that are easier to peel every time.
Perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs are an essential item at my house! We love to just grab one for breakfast in the mornings, top our salads with with one for lunch or supper, and you can’t imagine a get together without having deviled eggs!
There are so many ways to cook hard boiled eggs, but when I need them in a hurry, I turn to this pressure cooker method using my Instant Pot.
Perfect Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs Recipe
Learn how to make perfect eggs in the Instant Pot with my simple tried and true tips that are easier to peel every time!
I usually make a dozen at a time since we tend to go through them throughout the week.
What Do You Need to Make Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs?
- Eggs
- Instant Pot
- Steamer Basket or Trivet
- 1 cup water
I use this steamer basket for my Instant Pot eggs since I like to cook so many eggs at one time, but you can also use the trivet provided with your Instant Pot if you are only cooking a few at a time.
How to Make Perfect Soft and Hard Boiled Eggs in the Instant Pot
- Arrange. Arrange eggs in a single layer in my steamer basket or on the trivet insert for the Instant Pot.
- Pour. Pour in the water and secure the lid to the Instant Pot.
- Cook. Set the time to the appropriate time and pressure setting based on if you prefer your eggs soft or hard boiled.
- Plunge. Plunge your cooked eggs into a bowl filled with ice water to quickly cool them down and to stop the cooking process.
- Peel. Immediately peel your cooled eggs for the best results.
Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
Set the time for 5 minutes on High Pressure. Allow the pressure to release for 5 minutes and then quick release the remaining pressure by carefully placing a towel over the pressure release vent until all of the pressure has released. Remove the lid of the Instant Pot, run cool water over your eggs and then plunge the eggs into a bowl of ice water. Peel immediately.
- Pressure – High
- Time – 5 minutes
- Release – Quick
I’ve found that having an ice bath ready in a large bowl helps to cool down the eggs even more after initially running under cool water. This helps the eggs to peel perfectly every time.
If you do not have an Instant Pot, you may want to use my other methods for cooking them, such as my classic method for hard boiling eggs and how to make them in the oven.
How to Make Instant Pot Soft Boiled Eggs
To make soft boiled eggs in the Instant Pot, I’ve also included that information for you.
Instant Pot Soft Boiled Eggs
